Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has this week moved to lavish altogether deserved fresh praise on midfield standout Pedri.

This, of course, comes fresh off yet another stellar display on the part of the Spanish international.

Barcelona marked their return to action on the continent on Tuesday night, welcoming Benfica to Catalunya’s capital for the 2nd leg of the Champions League Last-16 tie between the clubs.

The aforementioned Pedri, for his part, was in from the off in the clash, from his customary berth in the middle of the park.

And, despite the explosive attacking displays put forth by the likes of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, when all was said and done, it was the 22-year-old who scooped Man of the Match honours.

This came owing to a wonderful all-round display, featuring elite passing, pressing, dribbling and everything in between.

Speaking to the media this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Pedri’s ongoing excellence was put to boss Hansi Flick once more.

And the German tactician was not shy in revealing his take that:

“It’s incredible what Pedri does with and without the ball. For me he’s the best in the world in his position.”
