The plans of FC Barcelona for summer 2026 are taking their final shape with every passing day. Hansi Flick has already started training the first team players available to him, while filling his ranks with some youngsters as well.
The Blaugranes are set to have quite a busy month of August, during which they will play several friendly games and also three La Liga games of the next season. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona coach wants another friendly game to take place on 15 August, between the triangular tournament in Udine and the Joan Gamper Trophy game against Al-Ahly, and has already asked the club to organize it.
For this game, which is scheduled for just a week before the first official game of the next season, the German coach is expecting all of his first team players to be available. For now, the Blaugrana club is considering its options, as it has proposals to play both in Rabat and Nairobi.
However, Liverpool, who were previously being considered as a potential opponent for a friendly, is now ruled out for this potential game, as they have already committed to a friendly against the Italian side Como on 15August at Anfield.
In a few days, on 24 July, the Catalan club would play its first friendly of the summer, against CE Europa, another Barcelona club that competes in the Primera Federacion. After that, the team would leave for England for a week-long training camp, and during this visit, would play at least two friendlies against Championship sides. First against Birmingham City and then against Preston North End.
The triangular tournament in Udine, in which Udinese and Nottingham Forest will also be participating, is scheduled for 8 August and the Joan Gamper Trophy match is scheduled for 19 August.
Hopefully, these matches will be enough for Hansi Flick to experiment with some ideas and for the Barcelona players to regain their full fitness ahead of the start of the proper season.
