Hansi Flick reveals why he told one Barcelona star to ‘calm down’ during Valencia clash | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has revealed that he requested midfield starlet Fermín López to ‘calm down’ during the closing exchanges of the club’s meeting with Valencia.

Barcelona, of course, are fresh off another dominant victory on Thursday night.

After making the trip to Mestalla for a Copa del Rey quarter-final clash, the Blaugrana ultimately emerged on the right side of a 5-0 result.

Amongst the goals on the evening was the aforementioned Fermín López, who continued his recent tear against Valencia after notching a brace and two assists versus Los Che in La Liga just weeks ago.

As alluded to above, though, this did not stop boss Hansi Flick from calling for the Spanish international to reduce his effort level late on at Mestalla.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of his side booking their place in the final four of the Copa del Rey, Flick explained:

“Normally I like that this team always wants to score more goals, but it was the 85th minute and Fermín was doing sprints! I told him to calm down a bit… Sometimes I want more ball control.”
