Ansu Fati finds himself going through a difficult phase at FC Barcelona with the forward falling out of favour under manager Hansi Flick.
The forward was excluded from the squad for both of Barça’s Spanish Super Cup matches – a decision by manager Flick that sent a clear message: Ansu is currently one of the last options in the pecking order.
The 22-year-old’s omission in the semi-final against Athletic Club was particularly striking, where 16-year-old Toni Fernandez was selected ahead of him.
Now, as per SPORT, Ansu Fati’s continuity at Barça for the remainder of the season is now uncertain with Hansi Flick making it clear that the forward is no longer a big part of his plans.
Indeed, even before the Super Cup, Ansu also missed out on a starting spot against UD Barbastro, only featuring in the second half – a further indication that he is now seen as an occasional option for low-profile matches.
As such, Barcelona are no longer ruling out the possibility of a loan exit for their No. 10, although Ansu harbours doubts about going down that route after his experience at Brighton & Hove Albion last season.

There is no shortage of interest in the Spaniard despite his problems at Barcelona. Clubs like Sevilla, Real Betis, Valencia, and Girona have expressed interest in his situation.
Upon returning from his loan spell at Brighton in the summer, Ansu was linked with a departure again but Flick opted to put his faith in the 22-year-old.
However, a foot injury in pre-season training put the forward out of action for a couple of months. While he eventually returned in September, minutes were hard to come by and he made minimal impact when given a chance.
Then, Fati was struck down by another injury, sidelining him for close to a month. Since recovering, he has barely featured under Flick. With the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, his chances of regular game time have diminished even further.
As such, there is a feeling that a reset away from the club might be the best option for Ansu. With plenty of time left in the January window, it will be interesting to see how things evolve.
