FC Barcelona continued their good run in La Liga as they won their seventh game in the domestic competition, against Sevilla, last night. The Blaugranes conceded the opening goal of the game in the first half, but a hat-trick from Raphinha was enough to overturn the score and bag the full three points.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, after the game, Hansi Flick addressed his customary press conference, in which he talked about several aspects of the match and his team in general.
The German coach admitted that his team made some mistakes, but was satisfied with the way they reacted to going behind early:
“I’m very happy to have won here… It was a difficult game in the first half, with some mistakes, but we knew how to resolve things in the second half.”
The Barcelona coach was very happy to have Raphinha in his team, and highlighted several of his qualities:
“For the club, it is the best decision. When you see how he connects with the fans and the team. He is a leader; he gives everything.”
Flick was also ecstatic with how his team is playing this season:
“What we are doing this season has been spectacular; the second half today was incredible.”
The German coach opened up about starting Dominik Livakovic in goal:
“Sometimes you not only have to analyse everything, but also trust your instincts. That was my feeling, and that is what we decided. It has nothing to do with us not believing in Szczesny; we thought Livakovic could be the better option… It is not a fixed decision; it is a decision for today’s match.”
The Barcelona coach also shared how difficult it is for him not being able to give minutes to all his players:
“It was a difficult situation… For him not to play, for Gavi not to play… For me, that is difficult, but you have to think about the team. There is nothing personal with the players.”
Flick confirmed the defender Andreas Christensen has suffered an injury:
“Christensen will be out for a few weeks. It is a muscle injury, but we have to wait for the tests.”
The German coach also talked highly of Rodri:
“He is a great player, both with and without the ball. He controls everything and gives us composure in our positional play… He links up well with Pedri and the centre-backs.”
Concluding his presser, the Barcelona coach expressed his satisfaction with the overall game:
“We can be happy with what we did.”
With this win, FC Barcelona have had a perfect start to the season, in which they won all of their eight games. Now, Hansi Flick will have some days to rest, as the September international break starts, and after that, he will be looking forward to seeing his team continue with this blazing form.
