Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is keen to see one area of his squad reinforced before the upcoming transfer deadline.

That’s according to Blaugrana insider Gerard Romero, who points towards centre-back as the position in question.

Barca, of course, recently bid farewell to a leading member of the club’s defensive ranks from last season.

After Iñigo Martínez was the subject of a big-money contract offer on the part of Saudi outfit Al-Nassr, Deco and co. opened the door for the experienced stopper to depart on a free transfer.

As much has left Hansi Flick somewhat short on options at the back, with Andreas Christensen’s fitness a constant source of concern.

In turn, it should not come as a major surprise to hear of Barcelona’s headmaster eyeing fresh additions to his squad.

As confirmed by the aforementioned Gerard Romero, speaking on his official Twitch channel, Flick is keen for the Camp Nou brass to sanction a move for a centre-back over the days ahead.

Whilst the German is fully aware of the financial constraints in place in Catalunya’s capital, he is nevertheless hopeful of a potentially low-cost arrival.
