With a new coaching staff now present at FC Barcelona, the new season will have its own unique challenges. While the Catalan club may have faltered under the previous coaches last season, the new arrivals want to ensure that does not happen again. However, especially at a club like FC Barcelona, adaptation is crucial.

Hansi Flick and his new group of associate coaches are understandably elite-level technicians, but they have never coached at Barcelona before. Flick comes from a German setup, having coached both the National team and Bayern Munich, but he is yet to grasp the various ideologies and traditions of FC Barcelona.

That is why it has been considered for a long time that the German coach could hire a person who could act as a middle point. Someone who understands the Barcelona way of life but is also well-acquainted with the background that Hansi Flick comes from.

Many reports previously suggested that man could be none other than Thiago Alcantara. Yet, those approaches were previously blocked and nothing came out of that pursuit. Now, however, things seem to have taken a massive shift as the Spaniard has recently been confirmed to retire from the sport as a professional player.

In light of this new information, as per SPORT, Hansi Flick is launching a new operation for Thiago. The 33-year-old former Barcelona and Bayern Munich player is seen as the perfect middle-man for the German coach at his new home. Moreover, it would appear that the response could be much more positive this time.

As the report has mentioned, the player is now much more inclined to facilitate a return to his former home. Having retired as a player, this new challenge possibly attracts him and Hansi Flick has been actively trying to get the former Barcelona player to accept his proposal.

Flick and Thiago have already crossed paths in the past and enjoyed a lot of success. In the one season that Flick coached the Spaniard over at Bayern Munich, the duo saw the Bavarian giants lift a historic treble together. Now, the German coach is presenting the recently-retired Liverpool star a chance to work with him at Barcelona.

Beyond just the appeal of this matter from a sporting perspective, it will need to be discussed on a financial level as well. In the meeting that was set to take place between the new Barcelona coach and club director Deco, this topic may have been one that was discussed. To incorporate Thiago, however, Barça will need to make sure they draft a sustainable formula and proposal.
