FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has already relied on a wide range of players at the start of the 2025–26 season. Across the ten official matches played so far, eight in La Liga and two in the Champions League, the German manager has called up 28 players, giving 24 of them time on the pitch.
The remaining four have missed out for different reasons. Inaki Pena featured in the first two matchday squads before completing his move to Elche, while Guille Fernandez was only called up once before returning to Barça Atlètic. Diego Kochen, meanwhile, has served as the third-choice goalkeeper in several games but is naturally excluded from the outfield rotation.
That leaves Toni Fernandez, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, as the only player yet to make an appearance for the first team due to a technical decision. Flick has included the young forward in ten matchday squads but has not yet handed him any minutes this season.

Within the dressing room, the feeling is that Flick, despite being a strong believer in La Masia’s philosophy, simply hasn’t found the right moment to introduce the teenager.
The coach reportedly sees potential in Fernandez and believes he can develop into a key player in the future, though he is not considered ready for regular top-flight football just yet.
Toni Fernandez, who made his official Barcelona debut last season in the Copa del Rey against Barbastro, remains patient as he waits for his first opportunity of the new campaign.
