Although the new season is well and truly underway, Barcelona are still missing out on the services of Marc Bernal.
The young midfielder had picked up a serious injury at the start of last season and has yet to feature since.
Bernal was part of Barcelona’s pre-season plans, but he did not make a single appearance, which raised doubts over his fitness.
A recent report from Diario SPORT has offered an update on Bernal’s fitness, suggesting that the midfielder is set to return to action sometime around September.
While Bernal himself has been pushing to return to action, coach Hansi Flick has adopted a far more cautious approach.
The German reportedly told the young midfielder: “I want you for 15 years, not for a friendly.” This was in response to Bernal’s desire to play in the Joan Gamper Trophy against Como.

Barcelona endured a similar situation with Gavi last year, carefully pacing his recovery to ensure no setbacks.
The Andalusian has since returned to full fitness, and Bernal is expected to follow a similar path.
Gavi has also become a strong support system for Bernal, offering guidance during this challenging phase.
Despite offers pouring in from other clubs, Bernal remains committed to Barcelona and is keen to establish himself at the heart of midfield.
If everything goes according to plan, Bernal could make his La Liga comeback in mid-September. For now, both the player and the club agree that patience will be key.
The two parties are also in talks over a renewal that will seal the player’s long-term future in Catalonia.
