MLS MVP Hany Mukhtar has insisted his focus is now on securing team honors with Nashville SC.

Mukhtar has enjoyed great success since arriving Stateside in 2020, scoring 50 goals and providing 21 primary assists in 88 appearances across all competitions, helping Nashville qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs in each of their three seasons so far.

The former Germany youth international is the face of the franchise and his exploits on the pitch also helped them successfully transition to playing in their brand new GEODIS Park stadium.

However, one thing remains elusive: major silverware.

Despite winning Major League Soccer's most prestigious individual accolade in 2022, as well as the Golden Boot with 23 goals in 33 regular-season appearances, Mukhtar isn't yet satisfied.

"I'm looking forward to making history here," the MVP winner said, adding: "Winning some silverware for the city."

Right from the word go, Nashville made it clear they wanted to build their team around Mukhtar, which was enough to convince him to end a four-year spell at Danish giants Brondby.

"[Nashville GM Mike Jacobs] said one very powerful thing to me," Mukhtar recalled. "He said, 'Hey, I want to build a team around you.' That's not what you hear a lot of times as a player.

"That's the place where I have to go."

And now, Mukhtar wants to repay that faith. He and Nashville SC are both aligned in wanting to deliver that first-ever piece of major silverware.

"I want to do great, I want to do something great," he said. "That fits perfectly with the goals of the club.

"We want to win at one point silverware. That's why I re-signed here in Nashville. We have to work hard. And me as a player, in general, I always work hard and try to get better."
