Two big names are staying on board! FC Bayern Women have agreed contract extensions with Pernille Harder and Magdalena Eriksson until 30 June 2028. The attacker and the defender have been linchpins of the team since moving to the Bavarian capital together in 2023. They’ve won two Bundesliga titles with the defending double winners as well as one DFB Cup and two Supercup titles.

Rech: ‘A statement for FC Bayern’

Bianca Rech, director of women’s football at FC Bayern: “We're delighted to give the fans this special Christmas present – the extension with Magda and Pernille is a statement for FC Bayern. Both are real role models with their professionalism every day. Magda takes responsibility, leads the team and communicates openly, while Pernille impresses as more of a quiet leader. Their decision to continue with us shows their desire to keep writing the success story here at FC Bayern. Our joint ambition is to keep progressing in Europe and maintain our number one position in Germany.”

Harder: ‘Looking forward to what’s ahead’

Pernille Harder: “The decision to stay here was quite easy for me. We’ve made great progress over the last two and a half years and our potential is far from exhausted, which is why I’m looking forward with anticipation to what’s ahead. FC Bayern means a great deal to me. From the start I’ve felt like part of a big family, which I want to continue to being part of. I value my teammates, the dedicated team behind the scenes and the loyal fans who support us in every situation. My ambition is to keep winning the Bundesliga and the cup, and get closer to winning the Champions League with Bayern.”

Eriksson: ‘Munich has become home’

Magdalena Eriksson: “I’m very happy, pleased and looking forward to everything to come. Munich has become a home away from home for me, with a strong feeling of family and being welcome, carried by the team, the city and our magnificent fans. Their support is endless, no matter the place or result. My goal for the future is to achieve everything with this team, both in Germany and in Europe. I’ll give my best every day to do that.”

Key pieces in the puzzle

Harder moved to Munich along with Eriksson from Chelsea FC ahead of the 2023/24 season. The Danish international quickly impressed with her class and became one of the leading figures of the team. The 33-year-old is a versatile attacking asset, who can play both up front and in attacking midfield. Harder has featured 79 times for Bayern to date and reached a milestone in the last home match of the year against Vålerenga earlier this week, scoring her 50th goal for the club. The nine-time Danish Women’s Player of the Year is the captain of her country and has racked up 81 goals in 167 international appearances.

Like Harder, Eriksson quickly found her place at FC Bayern following her move from Chelsea in summer 2023. With her experience as former captain of the Londoners as well as long-time pillar of the Swedish national team, the centre-back not only brings footballing quality but also leadership. The 32-year-old swiftly established herself as a linchpin of the Bayern defence in her debut season and has made 52 appearances during her time in Munich so far. Eriksson retired from international football in November of this year after 123 caps, two third places at the World Cup and two Olympic silver medals.
