Harry Gray has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan from Leeds United and called the timing perfect after the move was confirmed. The 17-year-old will spend the 2026/27 campaign in League One at Hillsborough.

Under new ownership and manager Henrik Pedersen, Wednesday are targeting an immediate return to the Championship, and Gray has been asked to play his part. He enjoyed a spell with Rotherham United in the second half of last season.

Several clubs showed interest, with Huddersfield Town the closest rival for his signature, but Leeds and Gray decided a switch to Hillsborough was the best option.

"There were quite a few clubs interested but it was an easy decision because this is such a big club. It’s crazy to think about 24,000 season tickets in League One and the timing is perfect, as I have a full pre-season to settle in."

He told the Owls’ website.

"Hillsborough is a special stadium when the fans get going and I think this year, with everything that's going on around the place, it should be unbelievable and hopefully a season to remember. It’s the perfect place for me."
