England captain and striker Harry Kane could be at risk of an instant yellow card if he wears the ‘OneLove’ armband during the Three Lions’ game against Iran.
The Telegraph have reported that FIFA have threatened the English FA, who are risk of sporting sanctions and Kane will receive a yellow card if he wears the OneLove armband in the game against Iran. The English FA are said to be deeply frustrated with the situation, as they thought they would only be at risk of a fine if they express solidarity for marginalised communities in Qatar.
This means that if Kane wears the armband against Iran and the United States, he would be suspended for the game against Wales. The FA are now talking to the Welsh FA to find more information about what to do, as Gareth Bale is also set to wear the OneLove armband. The captains of Germany, Holland, France, Belgium, Denmark and Switzerland are also due to wear the armband, but England play their opener before the others.
