Harry Redknapp has picked his best 11 performers from the weekend’s action.
The Premier League team of the weekend that has most impressed him.
Included in his top 11 is one stand out Newcastle United player.
A player who in Harry’s opinion contributed so much to the defeat of Wolves at St James’ Park.
Harry Redknapp explaining to BetVictor why he chose this Newcastle United star amongst his Premier League team of the week:
A first start for City, and a first pick in my TOTW for Donnarumma, he was fantastic. We all know how good a keeper this lad is and what a presence he is back there for Manchester City. That save he made from Mbeumo was unbelievable, I thought that was a certain goal. I know there are one or two questions about him with his feet, but who cares if he makes saves like that!
Kayode looks a really good player for Brentford. His energy is fantastic, he’s always trying to get forward, always trying to make things happen. He seems to play with a real enthusiasm, I’m sure his teammates love him.
How many top defenders do Arsenal have? Mosquera looks like yet another! I thought this lad was superb alongside Gabriel in the heart of that defence. By modern standards, they didn’t even pay that much for the lad, he looks like an absolute bargain.
I don’t see many better than Christian Romero, this fella is a top, top defender. He does a little bit of everything and is such a leader in this side. I know he can be a bit daft at times, but I love the aggression he plays with, and he’s got real quality on the ball, as we saw against West Ham.
Maybe a surprise inclusion but I thought Garner did a good job playing out of position at left-back. He’s played in a few different roles now for Moyes, that’s always the sign of a good player and a good lad too. He dealt with everything that came his way, and he linked up well with Jack Grealish in front of him.
Madueke has been a revelation at Arsenal. I know there was a few question marks when they signed him, but he’s kicked on and is playing the best football of his life. Right now, I think he’s one of the first names on the team sheet.
Another Arsenal lad, Zubimendi had his best game in an Arsenal shirt. I do like this lad, he’s a typical Spanish midfielder, very classy, very composed on the ball. I didn’t see him as someone who could come into the side and score goals though, so if he can continue to add that to his game, he’ll be a top addition.
Bergvall’s always caught my eye for Spurs, I like him a lot. He was excellent against West Ham and capped off a fine performance with a goal. I think people forget how young this lad is, he plays with so much maturity.
It was great to see Phil Foden look more like himself. Some of his touches and flicks were just brilliant and that was a far better header than people realise for the opener. It’s great for City and great for England to see him in this form, how can a player this talented not make the England squad?
Woltemade’s debut couldn’t have gone much better. When a striker is signed for big money, it’s imperative they get off the mark as soon as possible, it just settles them down and makes them relax in front of goal. We can all see how tall the lad is, and he made it count for that header. He’s got nice feet though and I’m very curious to watch him over the next few weeks.
My star man, it can only be Erling Haaland. I thought he was just brilliant, so dominant in both boxes! It might sound crazy, but I think he’s gone up a level this season, he seems to be playing with more authority, more leadership on the park. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t know how he missed that other chance, but he took the other two so well and I didn’t ever think he was going to miss. What a player.
Manager: Pep’s a little unlucky not to get this but I’m going with Iraola. I know people will call me a homer but he’s doing a great job again. That’s now three wins out of four, and the only loss was that thriller at Anfield. Virtually the entire backline left in the summer but I don’t see much of a drop off so far!
