Tottenham Hotspur will clash heads with Royal Antwerp at the Bosuilstadion on Thursday evening hoping to collect another three points in the UEFA Europa League. The North London outfit managed to secure a narrow 1-0 win over Burnley earlier this week which will keep their confidence high heading into this upcoming European showdown away at Belgium.
Jose Mourinho will once again opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and might name the same starting XI that earned a 3-0 victory against LASK last week. Therefore, we can expect to see some of the first-team stars like Son Heung-min and Harry Kane get a well-deserved rest on the bench.
Joe Hart will return to operate in between the sticks for Spurs after he secured a clean sheet in his last league outing. Ben Davies could once again be deployed as a makeshift centre-back alongside Davinson Sanchez in the middle of the Tottenham defence. The defensive duo managed to produce an impressive display in the opening week of the Europa League, so Mourinho might be inclined to stick with them on Thursday. Otherwise, Joe Rodon could get a chance to start for Spurs at the heart of the backline.
Sergio Reguilon will be a guaranteed starter at left-back while Matt Doherty keeps his spot on the other side as the right-back. They will both be given the license to join in on the attack so that they can provide some decent service to the front players.
Harry Winks will anchor the midfield along with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg as they focus on establishing their dominance at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and Gareth Bale will operate just ahead of them as part of Mourinho’s attack.
Moura managed to find the back of the net in the 3-0 win over LASK last week which should keep him in high spirits going into this European clash in midweek. As mentioned earlier, Son Heung-min will be rested on the bench.
Carlos Vinicius could get another opportunity to impress as the primary centre-forward up top. He will be desperate to get his name on the scoresheet and prove his worth to his gaffer. Harry Kane will be named on the bench but might get a chance to influence the game in the second half if needed.
