Has Barcelona paved the way for Arsenal to sign Julian Alvarez

Barcelona is the club Julian Alvarez dreams of playing for, but Atletico Madrid have vowed that the dream will not happen on their watch.

The attacker was keen to leave in the summer, but Atletico insisted that he would not be joining one of their rivals and stood their ground in their bid to make sure he understood their position.

Arsenal wanted to sign Alvarez and did their best to convince him, but he rejected their approach and made it clear that he would only leave if the club he joined was Barcelona.

The saga continued until the transfer window closed, with several reports claiming that Barcelona had now given up on signing Alvarez and would not reignite their interest in the attacker.

Barcelona Still Waiting for Alvarez

That appeared to leave Alvarez with no choice but to consider joining Arsenal, but Fichajes says it is untrue that Barcelona will no longer pursue an interest in him.

If Alvarez continues to want a move to Barcelona and Atletico relax their stance on his future, the Catalans would be ready to sign him. That leaves the situation dependent on both the player’s desire and Atletico’s position.

Arsenal will be hoping Atletico maintain their stance that Alvarez can only be sold to another club. The Gunners remain interested in the attacker and would benefit if Barcelona were unable to make their move.

Barcelona, however, remain hopeful that Atletico will eventually agree to Alvarez’s demands to leave. If that happens, they would be ready to take advantage of the situation and pursue his signature.

The uncertainty surrounding Alvarez’s future therefore continues, with Arsenal and Barcelona representing potential destinations if Atletico decide to allow the attacker to leave.

For now, Barcelona have not completely abandoned their interest despite reports suggesting otherwise.
