VfB Stuttgart's hat-trick hero Deniz Undav struck in injury time to claim a point in Dortmund this afternoon. The 29-year-old couldn't hide his delight at full-time.
“It was an extraordinary match. It felt like a win. We showed incredible character and fully deserved to take point," explained the striker in his post-match interview.
“Scoring three goals is always nice, but doing so against Dortmund is even more special. I’m very happy that it earned us a draw. That’s what matters and it’ll do us a lot of good,” he said.
Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß also reflected on what he thought was a wonderful clash. He hailed Undav for his performance and his side's refusal to give up.
“It was a spectacular game – neither of the sides deserved to lose that. The team produced an impressive performance in the second half. The early goal to pull one back gave us more belief.
"It’s a positive that we kept believing in our chance right to the end and were rewarded for it. Deniz Undav is the man of the match today. It’s extraordinary to score three goals in one half in Dortmund.
“He’s an instinctive footballer who improved over the course of the game. It was a strong team performance but he still stood out,” Hoeneß said.
