Former Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé (25) was officially unveiled as a Real Madrid player at the Santiago Bernabeu yesterday, passing medical examinations before facing the media and taking in the adulation of thousands of Madridistas as he began a new chapter with the European champions. However, plaudits for the Les Bleus Captain are not universal, with Foot Mercato reporting on the soured relations between Mbappé and the club he has just left for free, particularly President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and manager Luis Enrique.

Luis Enrique was ambivalent to Kylian Mbappé at PSG

According to reports in Madrid-based Defensa Central, Enrique never had a good relationship with the Frenchman, displaying ambivalence to the player whilst others fawned over him:

These revelations are not surprising, given the polar atmosphere between Mbappé and the PSG hierarchy since the forward revealed his intention to leave the club in February. Following that announcement, Enrique drastically reduced his minutes on the field, leading to a further distance between club and player and a drastic loss of form, seeing the club crash out of the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund.

The chapter is closed, but the ill-feeling persists.
