West Ham United first team coach and former Stoke City boss Narcis Pelach thinks Irons boss Graham Potter is the best British coach at the moment and stressed he is learning a lot from him.

Pelach spent time at La Liga side Girona, Huddersfield Town and Norwich City as an assistant manager.

The 36-year-old was appointed as Stoke City boss last September and was sacked in December after he managed to win only three of his 19 games in charge.

The Hammers appointed Pelach as Potter’s first team coach in early January, with him committing to a contract until the summer of 2027.

The 36-year-old Spanish stressed that the Hammers boss advises him on what his steps should be in future, as he aims to return to management.

Pelach is very happy at the London Stadium and has no doubts that Potter, who managed Brighton and Chelsea, is the best British manager, even though Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has proved his quality very convincingly.

“I am now assistant to Graham Potter, from whom I want to learn a lot, and I think it will be very useful to me”, the Hammers assistant told Spanish radio station Cadena SER.

“He is probably the best British coach at the moment.

“I want to enjoy this experience, learn, and he also advises me on what my steps should be in the future.”

The summer transfer window is ongoing and he will look to assist Potter in getting the right profiles of players through the door as the Irons boss has faced criticism for a poor second half to last season.

Pelach will look to ready the Hammers’ stars for their pre-season, which is due to start next month.
