‘He Is Really Direct’ – Tottenham Talent Impresses Loan Club Boss | OneFootball

Plymouth Argyle boss Tom Cleverley has expressed his delight at Tottenham Hotspur loanee Oliver Irow’s brace against Blackpool.

Born in Westminster, Irow entered the north London club’s academy before turning ten and has since worked his way through the various youth levels.

Although primarily a left winger, Irow can also feature on the opposite flank or in a central attacking role, giving him the flexibility to play across the forward line.

The young attacker has also earned international recognition with England, having featured for the Under-17s.

Irow made his first move away from Tottenham on loan during the winter window, joining League One outfit Mansfield Town before helping convince another Spurs player to make the same switch.

Pilgrims boss Tom Cleverley recently admitted that the Spurs loanee brings ‘X factor’ to his team.

The Englishman has made five League One appearances so far for the club, while scoring three goals.

Irow recently scored a brace in a League One clash against Blackpool, helping Plymouth Argyle win the game 4-2.

Plymouth Argyle boss Cleverley praised Irow for his outstanding attacking output, highlighting the winger’s direct approach and the threat he provides going forward.

Cleverley also revealed that the Spurs loanee had been a doubt after suffering from sickness the previous day, but he was pleased that the youngster recovered in time to produce a strong performance for Plymouth.

Speaking to Plymouth Argyle’s club media (1:54), he said: “Yes, he’s been brilliant for us; [he has given us] outstanding attacking output.

“He is really direct.

“He had a little bit of sickness yesterday, and [he] was a doubt that we were keeping under our hats, and thankfully he’s looked after himself over the last 24 hours and put in a performance like that.”

Cleverley praised both Plymouth wingers for their performances against Blackpool, highlighting their strong attacking displays after they had also scored in the previous game.

“Magnificent performance from both our wingers today to back up with their goals from last week.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s Premier League campaign has been disastrous so far as they have failed to secure a single win from their first five games.

The Lilywhites are at the bottom of the Premier League table, giving Roberto De Zerbi plenty to work on heading into the international break.
