‘He knows football well’ – Medhi Benatia on Federico Balzaretti appointment at Marseille | OneFootball

Olympique de Marseille have officially confirmed the arrival of Federico Balzaretti as Assistant Sporting Director, where he will work alongside Medhi Benatia within the club’s sporting department.

The former Italy international, 43, joins OM following a second spell at AS Roma, where he served as a sporting executive. During his post-playing career, Balzaretti has also held positions at Vicenza and Udinese, earning a strong reputation for his work in recruitment and youth development.

“He was involved in transfers at AS Roma and is someone that knows football well,” said Marseille director of football Medhi Benatia in the mixed zone at the Vélodrome following a 3-0 win over Brest, attended by Get French Football News. “He’ll help us in valuing our young players and with recruitment.
