RC Strasbourg Alsace have taken the decision to hand their own captain, Chelsea-bound centre-forward Emanuel Emagha, a one-game suspension. The Dutch international won’t feature this Saturday against Toulouse. Emegha previously said that he accepted and understood the club’s decision, which is down to the player’s failure to respect the club’s values and rules.
Head coach Liam Rosenior has further explained the rationale behind Emegha’s suspension. “‘Emma’ made some clumsy comments to the press that hurt a lot of people, and he had to be punished for that”, said the former Hull City head coach.
Rosenior said that he and the team won’t forget all the positive contributions Emegha has given to Strasbourg. He also added that, at 41, he makes mistakes too, whereas Emegha is just 22. “He also needs to realize that every action has consequences.” The English head coach said that Emegha will still make the trip to Toulouse to support his teammates.
