Speculation has surrounded the winger’s future with the Baggies after an impressive campaign.

It was reported in June by Teamtalk that Everton are weighing up a £10 million offer for the 21-year-old, with David Moyes looking to bolster his attacking options.

However, no move has yet to come to fruition, with just a few weeks until the new league campaign gets underway.

Goodman believes that spending another year with West Brom is what Fellows needs at this stage of his career.

The Sky Sports pundit has also claimed that it would not be a strong show of intent from the new owners at the Hawthorns if they were to allow someone of this quality depart the club this summer.

“I don’t know whether it’s my heart over my head, but I’d love to say yes,” Goodman exclusively told Football League World.

West Bromwich Albion are a club that want to be challenging at the top end of the Championship, so selling undoubtedly one of your best players — who assisted 14 goals last season — would probably not be the statement of intent that West Brom fans would want from this new ownership.

“So I already said that he would personally be better served from another season in the Championship doing really well before maybe getting a shot in the Premier League.

“I don’t know whether it’s my heart ruling over my head, but I would love to think that he will start the season at West Brom.”

West Brom will get their season started on 9 August with a home clash against Blackburn Rovers in what will be Ryan Mason’s first competitive game in charge as manager.

Retaining Fellows would be great business for West Brom

The summer is associated with bringing in new players to improve a team, but keeping Fellows could be better than any fresh face coming in the door for the Baggies.

The winger is still only 21, and is coming off the back of a great campaign in the Championship.

He is only going to go from strength to strength, so getting one more year from him could be crucial to Mason’s side challenging for promotion next season.

If Everton are only willing to pay £10 million, it may be worth their while to gamble on his value increasing over the next 12 months before considering cashing in.
