Eintracht were beaten 6-0 in Leipzig on Bundesliga Matchday 13.
Three changes Head coach Dino Toppmöller made three changes to his starting line-up. Nnamdi Collins, Mahmoud Dahoud and Michy Batshuayi started in place of Ellyes Skhiri, Mario Götze (both on the bench) and Ansgar Knauff (absent because of a cold). Leipzig take early lead The early minutes of Saturday’s primetime clash belonged to Eintracht, who began on the front foot. However, the Eagles’ defence was caught out in the fifth minute when Xaver Schlager played a long ball to Conrad Harder and he headed it over Michael Zetterer, who had misjudged it and come too far off his line, and into the net. Chance for BatshuayiWith 20 minutes gone, Rasmus Kristensen played a good ball from the right into the middle to Ritsu Doan, who directed it onto Batshuayi, but the Eintracht striker couldn’t react quick enough to turn the ball in from close range.
Dahoud hits the bar, Leipzig strike After half an hour of what had been an even contest up to now, Dahoud hit the crossbar with a long-distance effort and Leipzig reacted immediately on the counter. Harder got the better of Collins in the penalty box before teeing up Christoph Baumgartner, who tapped in from three metres. The hosts’ greater effectiveness in attack was the difference at the break as Eintracht went in 2-0 down.Ngankam for BatshuayiToppmöller brought on Jessic Ngankam for Batshuayi for the second half, after the Belgian had injured himself shortly before half-time. But within two minutes of the restart, the Eagles found themselves three down when Yan Diomande received the ball from Antonio Nusa in too much space and stroked it in from 14 metres. Nusa went close to getting on the scoresheet himself four minutes later but his long-range shot hit the right-hand post.
Diomande and Raum extend leadEintracht’s defence had lost its shape at this point and the team overall its grip on the game. The next Leipzig goal followed in the 55th minute courtesy of Diomande. The dominant hosts then made it 5-0 in the 62nd minute, with David Raum converting a penalty given for a handball by Hugo Larsson. Diomande completed the scoring and his hat-trick three minutes later, consigning Frankfurt to a crushing loss.
