Hebburn Town have signed former Sunderland goalkeeper Daniel Cameron on a permanent deal after on-loan keeper Isaac Allan suffered concussion.

Allan, who impressed on loan during the second half of last season’s Northern Premier League title win, returned to the Trustmark Group Stadium in the summer for the club’s first National League North campaign. According to Sunderland Echo, the 20-year-old has started all nine league matches but is set to miss the coming weeks as he follows concussion protocols after a knock in last weekend’s FA Cup defeat by Guiseley.

Manager Daniel Moore moved quickly to bring back a familiar face, with ex-Academy of Light stopper Cameron agreeing a return after two previous loans with Hebburn. He had been on a short-term deal at National League neighbours Gateshead, working under former Sunderland captain Lee Cattermole.

Goalkeeper coach Carl Morris said Cameron was a major part of last season’s promotion, settled well and fitted into the group. He believes Cameron’s quality and experience with Hebburn and Boston last season will benefit the team in National League North, and welcomed the deal being completed.

Cameron will make the first appearance of his latest spell when the Hornets visit Darlington on Saturday afternoon.
