Hebburn Town are targeting three Sunderland youngsters after an against-the-odds title win and promotion.

Sunderland Echo understands that Cameron, Waters and Isaac Allan are of interest as the Hornets plan for National League North. Cameron and Waters will leave Sunderland this summer on free transfers when their contracts expire in June.

Cameron spent the first part of the season on loan at Hebburn before heading to Boston United, with Allan coming in on loan midway through. Waters enjoyed a productive spell, maintained a strong goals-to-minutes ratio and scored again in Hebburn’s final game.

Hebburn are also interested in Allan, though he remains under contract at Sunderland next season so any return would be a loan. The club are only likely to pursue one of Cameron or Allan, given both are goalkeepers, with that call part of broader summer planning.

Head coach Daniel Moore praised Isaac, the goalkeeper, for key saves and hailed Waters’ impact after last month’s 2-1 win over Bamber Bridge, which left Hebburn three points from sealing the title. They duly finished top on 79 points from 40 matches, winning 23, drawing 10 and losing seven, two clear of Hednesford Town and seven ahead of FC United of Manchester.

Operating on a modest budget, Hebburn want a young, enthusiastic group for the step up, and the trio fit that profile.
