West Bromwich Albion beat Derby 1-0 at Pride Park Stadium, rising from sixth to first in the Championship thanks to Aune Heggebo's strike in the 16th minute.
Jimmy-Jay Morgan teed up Heggebo to finish from close range, the forward guiding a left-footed effort into the bottom corner.
Brayann Pereira received a second yellow and was sent off (34.), forcing the visitors to reshape and defend deep.
Max O'Leary kept the lead intact in the third minute of first half stoppage time, saving from Ryan Hedges at point-blank range. After the restart, Lars-Jørgen Salvesen's header was tipped away by O'Leary (55.).
Derby introduced Joe Ward and Salvesen at half-time and found width. Ward's deliveries brought chances, while Corey Blackett-Taylor's crosses saw Henrik Meister head off target twice (84., 86.).
Derby controlled the ball with 67.1% possession, producing 13 attempts and 11 corners. West Bromwich Albion absorbed pressure, making 53 clearances and registering four shots.
Next, Derby host Birmingham. West Bromwich Albion welcome Queens Park Rangers.
