Lauren Hemp says that this Manchester City side will return to winning ways despite Chelsea Subway League Cup defeat.

It comes after the Blues suffered a 1-0 loss at the Joie Stadium and our 16 game unbeaten run came to an end.

But with City hitting the woodwork twice and forcing several fine saves from Hannah Hampton, there were plenty of positive elements to take from the performance.

But Hemp says although it’ll be a tough one to take, the group put in a good performance.

“It’s really frustrating we created so many good chances and I thought we were the better team to be honest, but I said earlier if you’re not clinical then it doesn’t really count for anything,” she said.

“We’re in a great position in the league, so there’s a lot of positives still left with this season and it’s a really exciting time to be a City player and a fan of this club.

“I thought we gave it our all tonight and I think that showed right to the final minute of the game.

“We were unlucky to lose and that’s what good teams go through, the hard and the good times together, so it’s important that we bounce back and focus turns now to the weekend.”

And Hemp reiterated that the Blues will rebound back from their first loss since the opening day of the season.

“At the moment we’re not used to losing to be honest so it’s very hard to take and I mean you’re at this club because you want to win things and we just missed out on a trophy today,” Hemp added.

“I thought we were really good to be honest and I thought we created a lot of good chances, but against top opposition you’ve got to take one or two chances that you get and that’s the decider in these games.

“It’s tough for us but we’ll bounce back in no time, this is a strong group, a great group, girls who all stick together.

“So I have no doubt that we’ll bounce back quick.”
