Jordan Henderson has sustained a wrist injury that Thomas Tuchel has described as ‘really bad’ during England’s celebrations after beating Mexico.
The midfielder fell awkwardly over the advertising hoardings with fears the 36-year-old has broken his wrist in the process.
He was pictured leaving the Azteca Stadium pitch on a stretcher, after England’s thrilling 3-2 win over the co-hosts in the last 16.
Henderson has been limited to only six minutes of action as a late substitute at the tournament, which from a personal point of view could now be over for the Brentford veteran.
“Jordan [Henderson] just fell over and injured his wrist. It looks really bad,” said England manager Thomas Tuchel said on BBC One.
“It’s a quite serious injury and it doesn’t fit to the evening that Jordan is now not with us. The doctor told me he is in hospital.”
