Ramon Hendriks spoke about transfer rumors linking him with a move away from MHP Arena. The defender helped Stuttgart to a Champions League return as he played over 3,400 minutes last season.
"At the moment, it looks like I'll still be playing in Stuttgart. I know that's the classic answer because you never know what's happening in football. But currently the fans do not have to worry. I am a VfB (Stuttgart) player," the 25-year-old Dutchman told “Bild”.
Kicker reported Borussia Dortmund were in conversation for the defensive all-rounder in July before Sky’s report that linked him with Nottingham Forest. The pay-TV channel added at the time that Stuttgart would be open to offers for around €40 million.
The Premier League club are now on the verge of signing Sporting center-back Ousmane Diomande for €40 million. Meanwhile, Dortmund’s new signing Joane Gadou scored against English champions Arsenal in the Emirates Cup.
According to Kicker, Stuttgart have very little interest in letting him go this summer even if they received big offers. Instead, they plan to extend his contract beyond 2028. The newspaper added that he’ll likely enter the top ten earners list at Stuttgart if he signs a new deal.
However, negotiations for a new contract have been pushed to September. "My focus is on me. To comment on the issue of a new contract would not make sense," said the left-footed defender.
