Ramon Hendriks has moved to reassure Stuttgart supporters that he is likely to stay beyond this summer, speaking amid links to Borussia Dortmund and Premier League side Nottingham Forest.
"At the moment, it looks like I'll still be playing in Stuttgart. I know that's the classic answer because you never know what's happening in football. But currently the fans do not have to worry. I am a VfB (Stuttgart) player," he told Bild.
The defender logged more than 3,400 minutes last season and helped VfB return to the Champions League.
Kicker reported Dortmund held talks in July. Sky later linked Forest and said Stuttgart would consider offers of around €40 million.
The Premier League club are now close to signing Sporting centre-back Ousmane Diomande for €40 million. Meanwhile, Dortmund’s new arrival Joane Gadou scored against English champions Arsenal in the Emirates Cup.
Kicker adds that Stuttgart have little interest in selling him in this window even for big fees, and instead plan to extend his contract beyond 2028, likely putting him among the club’s top 10 earners.
Talks over a new deal have been pushed to September. "My focus is on me. To comment on the issue of a new contract would not make sense," said the left-footed defender.
