Sheffield Wednesday are currently restricted by the EFL from making any signings
Henrik Pedersen has provided an update on Sheffield Wednesday’s hopes of conducting transfer business in the upcoming January window.
The Owls’ financial situation meant that only two signings were made last summer, with Ethan Horvath and Harry Amass both arriving on loan.
Nathan Redmond and Liam Cooper have since joined as free agents to bolster the Yorkshire outfit following permission from the EFL, with the club now in administration since late October.
It remains to be seen who will be in charge at Hillsborough when the winter market opens, with a preferred bidder set to be named in the near future that will replace Dejphon Chansiri as owner.
Sheffield Wednesday have won just one of their opening 19 games so far this season, so Pedersen will be keen to improve the first-team squad, if provided further allowances by the league, even if relegation is all but certain at this stage.

Pedersen has confirmed that Sheffield Wednesday have still yet to be given a clear update from the EFL regarding potential signings they can make in the immediate future.
He’s made it clear that the Owls are unaware of what allowances they’ll be given ahead of January, but that work is still being done that could get deals done if approval is granted.
"As of right now, we don't have any line from the EFL if we can do anything at all," said Pedersen, via The Star.
"We don't know if we can have loan players, if we can have free agent players or buy players.
"We don't know anything.
"But what we do in the background is that we try to have an overview of which loan players we could be interested in, which players will be on the free agent market in January, and then we try to make a list for our team and what it could look like.
"But one thing is how it could look, while the other is we don't know what is possible."
Pedersen has claimed that he, chief scout Kevin Beadell and the other staff are all looking at potential options to improve the team, but there is still too much uncertainty on what they are allowed to do to be able to plan properly.
"Kevin and his scouts, the coaches and me, we try to be as prepared as possible to handle it when there is a signal to do something," he added.
"But right now, there is no signal that we can do anything at all.
"We can have some ideas, but can we pay £5? Can we pay £500-a-week? Can we pay £5,000-a-week? Can we pay £10,000-a-week? Can we pay nothing? We don't know anything.
"It is roughly how we can do it, but the specifics are still quite difficult."
Sheffield Wednesday are bottom of the Championship table, with 18-points worth of deductions leaving them on minus 10 points through 19 games.
Next up for Pedersen’s side is a trip to face Watford on Tuesday evening in a 7.45pm kick-off.

Sheffield Wednesday are bottom of the Championship table, and it’s difficult to see them moving out of that position this season given their points deductions.
However, the team is still in need of reinforcements in January, if possible, because losing almost every game is such a brutal blow to morale behind the scenes.
Supporters will be pleased with the progress that is being made in regards to getting in a new owner, but they will also be finding it increasingly difficult to take these poor results every week.
If a few more free agent and loan deals can be done in the coming weeks, then that should also help ease the pressure on the players in the current squad to be available every game, as it’s such a small group of players at the moment.
