Manchester United are on the verge of finalising the temporary departure of one of their high-profile players to a La Liga club.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on X: “Antony to Real Betis, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties with Man United too.

“Documents being checked; then time for travel and medical tests.

“United will let him leave on loan deal with no buy clause. He’ll be formally back to United in June.”

Antony joined United from Ajax in a deal worth around £82 million in 2022.

Despite earning a staggering £200,000 a week, his performances have yet to justify the lavish paycheck.

So far this season, he has played only 407 minutes in 14 appearances.

Antony’s only goal this season came against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

Despite being given opportunities to shine as a substitute in the number 10 role by manager Ruben Amorim, he has failed to show any real progress.

To make matters worse, he squandered a straightforward tap-in to equalise when United were trailing 1-0 to Southampton.

His glaring miss might have drawn even more attention had Amad Diallo not salvaged the game with a brilliant late hat-trick.

The £12.5 million-rated winger is set to return to Old Trafford in June once his loan spell concludes.

United will be hopeful that his time in La Liga helps him regain his best form, boosting his market value.

The club is looking to sell him in the summer, with the aim of using the proceeds to strengthen a squad that has underperformed throughout the 2024/25 season.

His imminent departure will be welcomed by a large section of United supporters who have been frustrated with his displays.
