Hernández equalizer keeps LD Alajuelense and Olimpia even in Semifinals First Leg

ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continued with LD Alajuelense and CD Olimpia drawing 1-1 in the First Leg of their Semifinals series on Thursday at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Olimpia came close to finding the opener in the 38’, through an Emanuel Hernández header from close range off a corner kick opportunity that was high above the crossbar.
Ronaldo Cisneros had a look for the hosts in the 60’, with a ground shot from inside the box that was met by a save from Olimpia goalkeeper Edrick Menjívar.
Marcos Montiel placed Olimpia in the lead in the 74’, capitalizing on a headed assist from Jorge Benguché after a delivery into the box off a corner.
Alejandro Bran nearly equalized for Alajuelense in 85’ with a right-footed thunderbolt from outside the box that rattled the crossbar.
Anthony Hernández tied the match 1-1 in the 88’ with an individual play, cutting in from the right side before unleashing a powerful left-footed hit to the far post, following a pass from Deylan Aguilar on a fast break.
Olimpia will look to defend its advantage on away goals, while Alajuelense will aim for an away victory, when the sides meet for the Second Leg next Thursday in Honduras.
