Hertha BSC have been handed encouraging news, with examinations on captain Fabian Reese showing no metatarsal fracture or major damage, Bild reports. The pain was attributed to a pinched nerve.

The 28-year-old winger was forced off late after a heavy challenge from Maurice Neubauer in the 3-2 defeat to Hannover. He headed to the dressing room with a thick bandage on his left foot.

Reese later said he felt a flash of pain through his foot, noted such moments can be worrying when the bone seems to vibrate, and hoped it was only a nerve.

Reese is expected to be available for next week’s trip to SC Paderborn.

He remains pivotal for Hertha. Reese has made 22 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga this season and leads the division for combined goals and assists with 15, six goals and nine assists.
