Hervé Renard has unveiled his first squad as the newly-appointed coach of France’s women’s team – comprising 26 players. Eugénie Le Sommer, who returns after an absence of almost two years, and Wendie Renard are among the players called up.
The new coach made the announcement at the headquarters of the French Football Federation in Paris on Friday. Renard took over from Corinne Diacre and has opted to call up 26 players for the team’s two upcoming friendlies against. Le Sommer and Léa Le Garrec have returned to the squad, while Wendie Renard has also been selected.
However, PSG’s Kheira Hamraoui was not included in the squad. Renard stated that it was a “sporting decision.”
The French national team will play against Colombia on April 7 in Clermont-Ferrand and Canada on April 11 in Le Mans, just over three months before the start of the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, which runs from July 20 to August 20.
