18-year-old Bayern Munich starlet Lennart Karl made a memorable senior international debut for Germany in Friday’s entertaining 4-3 win over Switzerland, coming off the bench and immediately adding energy to the game.
Florian Wirtz is impressed with the impact Karl made against Switzerland and what he has seen from youngster so far in Germany’s camp.
“I’ve seen him in training for the first time this week. He’s a top player. It’s a lot of fun to play alongside him,” Wirtz said, while stressing that expectations should be kept realistic for the 18-year-old.
“We don’t want to put too much pressure on him,” emphasized the Liverpool attacker.
“He’s going to bring us so much joy over the next few years – he’s a very good footballer. We just have to enjoy the fact that he’s German and can help us,” Wirtz added, concluding his glowing praise for Karl.
Karl could feature again when Germany face Ghana in a friendly on Monday.
