Still, his knowledge of the game and the insights that he can provide are definitely valuable. That is why the recent praise that he had for a certain Barça superstar is certainly worth taking notice of, and especially because he had some big compliments for the player as well.

The former Barcelona player praises Lamine Yamal’s talent

As quoted by Mundo Deportivo, Villa recently praised 18-year-old Spanish winger Lamine Yamal, and did not hold back when it came to commending the Barça youngster:

“Lamine’s talent is brutal. He’s a boy who has risen very quickly. He is a unique player who will bring a lot of joy to the world of football. He’s only 18, so patience is needed, and he must be helped along the way. That much talent at such a young age is not normal. He’s doing fantastic things with both Spain and Barça.”

Expected to be a part of the 2026 Spain squad that will head to the FIFA World Cup, this would be Yamal’s first ever experience in the game’s biggest tournament. Big things are expected of him, but as Villa stated, patience is required with the young superstar.

Already called up for the upcoming international break

As of right now, he has been called up by Luis de la Fuente for the upcoming international break as well. Unfortunately for Spain, however, they will likely have to work out things without Gavi for now, as the Barça midfielder’s recent injury appears to be concerning.
