‘His time’s done’: Scholes makes ruthless summer prediction over in-form Man Utd man who’ll be going to the World Cup

Paul Scholes expects Barcelona will activate Marcus Rashford’s £26 million buy option in the coming weeks.
In doing so, it will bring the forward’s Manchester United tenure to a permanent end after 21 years.

The Catalan giants have been dragging their heels when it comes to shelling out Rashford’s fee, instead hoping to negotiate a lower sum or even take him on loan for a second successive season, though United are closed off to both options.

On Sunday, they were crowned La Liga champions following a 2-0 win over arch-rivals Real Madrid at Camp Nou, with the on-loan Red playing a direct role by scoring a scintillating free-kick early on.
It meant that Rashford had secured his first-ever career league title, after which he expressed his desire to stay with Barcelona.
Ultimately, the decision is out of his hands, but he will feel he’s done enough to justify his price tag.
The 28-year-old, who looks to be a shoo-in for Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad, has returned 14 goals and 14 assists in 47 appearances for the Blaugrana, and still has the chance to add to his account in the final two league fixtures.
From there, Rashford can only await confirmation on whether he’ll be plying his trade in Catalonia after the summer.
“I think his time’s done [at Man United],” Scholes said of Rashford on talkSPORT this morning.
“I saw his free kick the other night as well. It was brilliant. I don’t think he’s played a massive amount of games, but as you say, his numbers are quite good.
“When he was at Manchester United, I think he’d lost a bit of love for the club. He didn’t really want to be there. It looked like that to me at times.
“So I think for that relationship to be healed will be quite difficult.”
