Arsenal star hits 100 Premier League goal involvements in his 200th appearance
Bukayo Saka continues to rewrite Arsenal’s modern history.
The 24 year old winger marked his 200th Premier League appearance with goal and major career milestone in Arsenal’s 2 - 0 win over West Ham on Saturday. Night that also saw him join club legend Thierry Henry in rare record.
Saka who captained the side after Martin Ødegaard’s early injury, converted first half penalty to become only the second Arsenal player after Henry to score in his 200th appearance.
The England international also reached 100 Premier League goal involvements (55 goal, 45 assist) becoming the 7th youngest player to hit that mark at just 24 year and 29 day.
After the match, Saka revealed that Henry had personally messaged him:
"Thierry messaged me this morning to remind me we lost the last 2 at home to West Ham. He’s always pushing me. I’m really happy to have my name next to his records"
Arteta praises his “super consistent” star
Manager Mikel Arteta hailed Saka’s consistency and impact:
"It’s exceptional what he’s doing at his age. He’s super consistent willing to learn and keeps finding ways to score"
However it wasn’t all positive for Arteta, who was forced to withdraw Ødegaard with knee issue .. his third consecutive early substitution in league starts.
Saka’s milestone has drawn comparisons with his idol Cristiano Ronaldo who achieved 100 goal involvements in just 169 game at 23 year and 8 month.
Here’s how the pair stack up:
