Hazzana Parnell and Remaya Osbourne made history in the FA Cup as the first-ever mother and daughter duo to feature in the competition.

Parnell, 38, and her daughter Osbourne, 16, both play as strikers for the non-league side Hednesford Town Women.

Last season, the side was promoted to the Premier Division of the West Midlands Regional Women’s Football League. The club now sits four promotions away from playing in the top flight, the Women’s Super League.

Managed by Laura Hodgkiss, the team also made history when she combined with her husband, Jared, to oversee promotion.

A historic FA Cup run

Hednesford Town beat SJR Worksop in the last round 2-1 to progress to the second round of the Women’s FA Cup. Here, the mother-daughter duo showcased their chemistry with Hazzana assisting her daughter to further their progress.

Only one round away from potentially facing WSL opposition, Hednesford had to defeat local rivals Sporting Khalsa. An unfortunate 2-0 defeat saw them bow out of the Women’s FA Cup, but an impressive run saw them make history.

Both Hazzana and Remaya featured in this weekend’s match but were unable to replicate their moment of magic from the previous round. The duo will now turn their attention back to league action as they try to maintain their spot in the league.

Currently sitting in ninth, the side is just two points clear of the relegation zone.
