“History of winning” John Terry tells Piers Morgan why Rogers chose Chelsea

Morgan Rogers completed a move to Chelsea this week after choosing the Blues over Arsenal, and John Terry understands why the forward made that decision. The former Chelsea player explained his view during an interview with Piers Morgan.

Arsenal had been considered favourites to sign Rogers for several weeks, and the Gunners were confident they could complete the deal. However, they were unable to reach an agreement with Aston Villa, while Chelsea managed to secure his signature.

Rogers wanted to move to London, and Chelsea’s stronger push to add him to their squad eventually convinced him to accept their offer. The decision left many Arsenal supporters surprised after they believed their club was leading the race for his signature.

The Blues were prepared to make the necessary investment to complete the transfer, while Arsenal were not willing to match that level of spending. As a result, the Gunners missed out on a player they had been tracking closely.

Arsenal’s loss has now become Chelsea’s gain, with Rogers joining the Stamford Bridge club after the two sides took different approaches during negotiations. The move has also given Chelsea another attacking option as they continue to strengthen their squad.

Terry explains Rogers decision

As reported by Metro Sport, Terry shared his thoughts on Rogers’ decision while speaking to Piers Morgan. He said:

‘He’s obviously joined a club that has the potential of winning the Champions League and has a history of winning the Champions League, hence he’s gone for us over the red side of London, Piers.

‘To be honest, if you’re him, you’d have probably gone Arsenal so the numbers must have been pretty big. But I’m excited to have him, I think he’s a good player.’

Terry believes Rogers made a decision based on the opportunity presented to him, while also acknowledging that Arsenal would have been an attractive destination. Chelsea’s ability to complete the deal ultimately ensured that Rogers will begin the next stage of his career as a Blues player.
