As reported by Sky Germany, Hoffenheim are in advanced negotiations to bring Schalke’s top goalscorer Marius Bülter to Sinsheim this summer.
The 30-year-old has made it extremely clear to those in power at Schalke that he wishes to leave amid Die Königsblauen’s relegation from the Bundesliga this season. With Bülter’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2025, Schalke have set a €5m price tag on their star striker.
Bülter was key to Schalke’s revival under Thomas Reis, with the forward scoring 11 goals and collecting one assist in all competitions last season. While the Royal Blues will still find themselves in the 2. Bundesliga next season, their turnaround in performances under Reis gave their loyal supporters hope that survival was possible after their bleak start to the season.
Hoffenheim will be looking to add more goals to their side next season with Andrej Kramarić being the only player to find double digits in goals last term. The lack of firepower up front for the club from Sinsheim meant that their Bundesliga status was only confirmed for the upcoming campaign on matchday 33 despite being European hopefuls earlier on in the campaign.
Der Blau are looking to strengthen in other departments as well with Pellegrino Matarazzo aiming to bring Florian Grillitsch and Nadiem Amiri back to the club. As for Bülter, Hoffenheim do face competition with Werder Bremen who are also interested in the Schalke star, however, they are waiting to see what happens with Niclas Füllkrug and Marvin Ducksch.
