While Julian Alvarez is clearly the top transfer target for FC Barcelona this summer, the Catalans have also been linked with some other forwards, whom they are considering as alternative options in case their pursuit of the Argentine does not conclude as planned.
Among these names is the Kosovar striker Fisnik Asllani, who, with his 11 goals and 10 assists in 35 games, emerged as one of the most exciting attacking talents in Germany last season.
While it remains to be seen whether the Blaugrana club would make a move for him, it is becoming increasingly likely that he would change clubs this summer. In fact, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, the sporting director of his current club, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, admitted that talks are underway for their star forward.
The official, Andreas Schicker, made the following comments regarding Asllani:
“We’re in talks with clubs both in Germany and abroad. It’s no secret that Fisnik Asllani has a release clause.”
Some outlets in Germany are interpreting these comments as Hoffenheim accepting that they may lose the striker this summer, and from the official’s comments, it seems that Asllani’s future would be resolved in the coming few weeks.
In fact, some recent reports suggested that he was very close to completing a move to the Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. However, with reports of Paris Saint-Germain’s push for Ferran Torres, he has put these negotiations on hold, as he wants to see how the situation unfolds at Barcelona.
Fisnik Asllani has never hidden his affection for the Blaugrana club, recently uploading pictures of him in the club’s colors as a child, and dreams of playing for the Catalan club. For now, it remains to be seen whether he would be able to realize this dream, as he seems set to take the next step in his career this summer.
