Wales suffered a third Nations League defeat as Rasmus Hojlund’s second-half penalty earned Denmark a 1-0 win in Cardiff.

The visitors were the more dangerous side throughout, with Danny Ward keeping Wales level through a series of saves. Hojlund tested the goalkeeper early on, while Gustav Isaksen also threatened before Oliver Provstgaard headed over from a promising position.

Denmark continued to press after the interval and came close when Hojlund met Andreas Skov Olsen’s cross, only for Ward to make another fine stop. The Wales goalkeeper then denied Isaksen again, tipping his header onto the post.

However, Ward was involved in the decisive moment. A poor pass inside his own area went straight to Isaksen, and Ward caught the midfielder while trying to recover possession. Hojlund made no mistake from the spot, sending Ward the wrong way.

Wales struggled to create a response and remain third in Group A4.
