First blood has been shed in the Derby della Capitale as Roma leas bitter rivals Lazio 2-0 inside the opening 20 minutes of action at Stadio Olimpico.

Regularly coming under criticism across the 2024-25 campaign, Lorenzo Pellegrino ultimately repaid Ranieri's faith after including him in the XI tonight, with a deft finish to set Roma off at the 10-minute mark.

There was no better time to break his duck than tonight, and it set the tone for the home side to double their advantage eight minutes later with a close-range finish from Belgian midfielder Alexis Saelemaekers.

With that, it was only the second time since the 1960s that Roma has found the back of the net twice or more in the opening 20 minutes against Lazio in the league.
