SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras – The Final Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continued with Honduras and Costa Rica playing out a nil-nil draw in Group C on Thursday at Estadio Francisco Morazán in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Romell Quioto had a good look for Honduras in the 44’, with a left-footed hit from the center of the box that was high and wide to the left of the goal.
Luis Vega produced another chance for the hosts in the 70’, with an attempt from outside the box that just missed the top right corner.
Álvaro Zamora nearly handed Costa Rica the lead in the 80’, but his powerful right-footed finish inside the box on a grounded cross from Francisco Calvo bounced off the crossbar.
Edrick Menjívar pulled off a key save for Honduras in the 83’ to deny a shot from Josimar Alcócer in the left end of the box.
Both Menjívar and Costa Rica’s Keylor Navas concluded the match with one save and a clean sheet.
With the result, Honduras dropped to second in Group C on goal difference, while Costa Rica is third with three points.
Both teams will continue their qualifying campaigns on Monday, when Honduras hosts Haiti and Costa Rica receives Nicaragua.
