FLW’s West Brom fan pundit has commented on some Albion supporters’ calls to see Sean Dyche replace Eric Ramsay.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Despite exiting the FA Cup last weekend, West Brom will be hopeful that they can secure a first league victory under Eric Ramsay after two back-to-back draws.
Albion come into their clash against table-toppers Coventry City on a two-game unbeaten run in the second-tier, stopping the rot of five defeats in six with a goalless draw against play-off hopefuls Stoke City.
That result yielded from Ramsay switching from his three at the back setup that he originally attempted to implement to a traditional back four, with the Baggies looking so much more solid in their defensive duties.
The change of system restricted the Potters to registering just 0.39 xG all afternoon, while even further grit and determination was shown on a wet and swirling midweek evening at St Andrew’s against Birmingham City.
Despite the Baggies being peppered by Blues on their goal, heroic performances from the likes of Max O’Leary and Charlie Taylor were vital, leading to the Baggies registering back-to-back clean sheets and holding a belief that they can compete against some of the best teams in the division.
Although they were dumped out by Norwich City in the FA Cup last weekend, Ramsay made nine changes to his XI and seemed to be prioritising handing first-team fringe players minutes and putting full concentration on their survival bid.
But after conceding three goals on the road again, some Baggies supporters are concerned that the team will slip back into old habits, and are demanding that the hierarchy replace the Welshman with a more experienced set of hands.
Some on social media have suggested that the Black Country outfit should make a move for Sean Dyche, who is now out of work after being sacked by Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest just shy of a week ago.
But would he swap a top-flight relegation for one in the Championship? FLW’s West Brom fan pundit has outlined his thoughts on whether a deal could materialise.

Speaking to Football League World, West Brom fan pundit Callum Burgess believes Sean Dyche arriving to The Hawthorns in the midst of their second-tier relegation battle is “totally unrealistic” and is surprised at supporters for calling for a coach who they have little chance of luring.
Callum told FLW: “After being winless in his first seven games in charge, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some contingency plans being drawn up by Shilen Patel and the West Brom hierarchy.
“Of course, with the relegation battle that West Brom have been drawn deeper and deeper into, it wouldn’t surprise me if Ramsay doesn’t make it until the end of the season, despite only arriving recently.
“But I think the prospect of Dyche arriving is totally unrealistic. I’m very surprised to hear about the possibility of Albion fans thinking that there’s a chance of that happening.
“He’s a manager who has just been sacked in the Premier League this season, and it’s totally unrealistic that he’ll go into a Championship relegation battle.
“Of course, I’d welcome it, but it’s definitely unrealistic, and I’m surprised to hear any Albion fans discussing it right now.”

West Brom’s next three games could turn out to be a defining period for whether they are playing Championship or League One football next season.
While they will be far from favourites going into their meeting against the Sky Blues, Albion have to come through games against Charlton Athletic and Oxford United with at least four points, if not six, to haul themselves away from the relegation trapdoor.
If the Baggies collapse, it could well spell the end of Ramsay’s short stay in the job, with the hierarchy potentially then looking to an experienced coach to drag them away from danger in a last-ditch effort.
But you can’t see Sean Dyche stepping into the role so soon.
After a turbulent time on the sidelines with Nottingham Forest, Dyche is most likely to want to put his feet up and assess his options heading into next season, with the right opportunity likely to not arrive with just a few months remaining until the close of the 2025-26 campaign.
So the Baggies will likely have to look elsewhere, with the pool of candidates minimising now Gary Rowett looks set to take the reins at relegation rivals Leicester City.
Whether Albion would look as drastic to someone like Neil Warnock remains to be seen, but it would be an almighty shock to see Dyche drop to the bottom end of the Championship to try and save West Brom so soon from managing in the top-flight.
