"Honestly, I Didn't Expect It": Former Coach Peter Bosz Opens Up on Dembele's Ballon d'Or Win
Paris Saint Germain star Ousmane Dembele claimed the Ballon d'Or, comfortably outpacing Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal in the final standings.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, PSV coach Peter Bosz admitted he never imagined Dembele would one day lift football's most prestigious award.
"Honestly, I didn’t expect it. But he’s 1 of the best players I've ever worked with" said Bosz who briefly coached the Frenchman at Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
Bosz recalled being amazed by Dembele's ambidexterity and dribbling skills but noted his lack of discipline off the pitch.
"He was very young, unstructured, often late. The same happened at Barcelona. It wasn’t the clubs (it was him)”
Despite setbacks at Barcelona, Bosz believes Dembele matured at PSG especially after moving into more central attacking role.
"Only in Paris did he reach his full potential. Just watch the Champions league final against Inter (his pressing was unbelievable)"..
