With the first international break in the women’s football schedule having drawn to a close on Tuesday night, the Celtic FC Women's team return to SPWPL action with a game against Hamilton Accies at New Douglas Park (October 31).
Despite not being on club duties, it has still been a busy week for much of the Celtic squad, with seven players on international duty, including Emma Lawton, Saoirse Noonan and Amy Richardson at senior level for Scotland, Ireland and Wales respectively.
And there was also international action for Lisa Rodgers, Maria McAneny, Darra Dawson and Sienna McGoldrick with Scotland at youth level.
With all the players now back to work at Barrowfield, though, the Ghirls are getting set for a return to SPWPL duties this Friday evening.
A match on Halloween awaits the Celts in familiar surroundings, with Elena Sadiku’s side taking on Hamilton Accies at New Douglas Park.
It is the ground in which the Hoops play their home matches, but Friday evening’s game will be an away match as the Ghirls eye up a return to winning ways.
As the Celts get set to kick off the second round of fixtures, the first meeting between the sides was a dominant one from Celtic.
A five-star performance from the Hoops saw them secure a 5-0 win, with goals coming from Saoirse Noonan, Maria McAneny and Morgan Cross, alongside first Celtic goals for Momo Nakao and Darra Dawson.
The Ghirls will be hoping to put in a similar performance as they look to get to winning ways, following a narrow loss to Glasgow City last time out.
And what better way to try and bounce back than Friday night football under the lights, with Celtic back in action after a week’s absence from the international break at New Douglas Park.
